Coffee Time

Hello everyone :o)

I fancied using one of the older stamps for today's card, so I had a rummage through my (rather large) Sugar Nellie collection and found this one...

This is one of the Manga stamps from way back in 2010... she's called Coffee Time, and she's currently on sale, along with all the other Manga stamps, at the fab price of £2.48!  You can see the whole range HERE at Funky Kits.

Thanks for popping in, hope you have a lovely day :o)

A class act

Hello lovelies, I hope the sun is shining where ever you are in the world. Here in Scotland it is a beautiful day, dare I say spring is in the air, lambing is only a few weeks away and there are snow drops in my garden. If that is winer over, Mother Nature has been kinder than usual to us this year . Others have not been so lucky so here in the NE Scotland, for once, we had a real mild winter.

With spring in the air it's time for things to bloom and grow. Today I am working from home, looking at our diary and possible classes to run in the two stores. Elgin has Kate Mellis and Oldmeldrum has Fiona Stewart as their in house tutors. I just float about when and where I am needed.

I will share with you some awful photography of class samples for the near future. We don't tend to use Sugar Nellie stamps in classes because of the colouring required, but look forward to using the Hobby House toppers when they are ready.

Yes it looks like we need to take Judy's photography course !

Back in the House of Sugar tomorrow, hope there has need some new deliveries while I have been at home, pretty new thing to work with 😍
Have a great day
Karen

Show me your projects!

Hello everyone!

Working in the shop I see everything that everyone buys but I rarely get to see what's done with it and that's where all the fun is! So I love it when you ladies take in your projects to show me.

Recently I had a lady in the shop quite a lot getting stressed over a scrapbook she was making for her sisters 50th. She took it in to show me before she gave it to her and it was beautiful! It was so nice to see the different things that she had done with the materials she had got from me. I love seeing different paper crafts too. I have two special ladies that come in who are very into their parchment. I'm very lucky to have received a few of their gorgeous cards.

I got given something very different this week from a lady who crafts non stop. She had made penny purses out of juice cartoons for kids. Where does she get her ideas from? It puts my crafting ideas to shame! I just thought it was so cute and different.

SOS - the dark side

In every trade, especially those involved with fashion trends. There is a dark side. Pinterest has proved be be a huge enabler of copyright theft but lay the blame with those that pin. I love pinterest, it has been a fantastic source of inspiration for me for too many years now, but it has also made my expectations of things , un realistic.

But today I wish to high light a Stamp Out Theft issue.
http://www.stampoutstamptheft.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/thou-shalt-not-steal.html

read for yourself
Judge for yourself

But be aware of what you spend your pennies on.
Real or fake, the choice is always yours.

Crafting with KIDS?!

Morning!

It's beenvery quiet in the shop so far this week so I have spent the morning thinking of fun but mess free kids crafting ideas. Yes KIDS! I have been asked to go along with a crafting table to a mothers and toddlers group to make mothers days cards with the children. I like to support the local groups and shops in Olmeldrum so of course I said yes. However the tricky part is finding something that will impress the mums but is also quick and easy and most importantly doesn't take a lot of tidying up. I have so much craft stuff but how much of that can be used with under 5's??

Hi Ho Hi Ho it's off to Pinterest I go!

Wish me luck!

# 4 surprise surprise

It's a very long time since I watched the blog charts, a pointless thing to be worried about as it has no reflection on the business behind it.

But with the extra hours I have put in at work this week, I had time to look at blog stats and was surprised to see traffic coming from    Dot com gift shop
Thinking that someone had made something with a Sugar Nellie image , I jumped over to see where we were mentioned and what had been made, there are so many talented crafters out there.

But it was a list of crafty blogs and we were #4  surprise surprise said Cilla!

With the very local Kath Stewart at #1. You would think that the Scottish connection was strong with this reviewer.

A few names I knew from my blog surfing days but it's good to see unknown, it's like opening a pressie not knowing what your going to get. That is what I am alway looking, new discoveries.

I still have no internet at home and I do a lot of work from home . So I  apologies for the lack of posts. Normal posting will resume once BT install the new hub.

Catch up soon.

Karen

Leanne Ellis ❤️

Hello my lovelies, hope you are warm and cozy, tucked up inside out of this awful weather.

Hide away in your craft space and de stress with a little time crafting, add coffee and cake and your on to a winning formula for relaxing.

February at the HOUSE of SUGAR is all about Leanne Ellis, as I continue to gather goodies for our box of creative goodies.

There were two ranges that we made into rubber stamp. Arty which I will come back to when the Trimcraft stock arrives.

The other was ANNIE, a simple delightful character which easy to colour and an original style which appeals to everyone.

This is one of the ranges that we are looking into re making in clear. I have real rubber in the original style minimal packaging which is offered at a great price over on www.funkykits.co.uk
find it here
If you are new to Sugar Nellie or are missing a few Annie's, this is an amazing deal for you.

Hunkydory

Hello my lovelies.

Today I address a question that has been circulating around our facebook groups.

The new Fairy Sweetheart collection and pick of the day from Hunkydory on create and craft,  do use the images you know as FAIRY GLEN, but there is no connection other than we both have licences from the same artist.

Rest assured that we have now tightened up our licence with this artist so that our  chosen images, can only be made into toppers by us. There are several new collections going to be release this year, this will give you a sugar rush for sure!

We are already working with Jill over at the HOBBY HOUSE to bring beautiful coloured images to crafters with less time, but who still appreciate the hand crafted look. Our new range of printed toppers will also be available to wholesale customers via THE HOBBY HOUSE as they will be our distributors.

This is just one of the new partnerships which I hinted at at the start of the year.

I feel that as the big business get bigger and the smaller ones are squeezed out in this difficult trading times, the small business must work together as there are strength in numbers as they say and we all have our strengths, mine is the ability to track down the sweetest artist out there. But you all know that and that is why you have such a sweet tooth. Your loyalty has been the back bone of our little business and the design team have been the inspiration. You are all very much appreciated.❤️

Take care and keep crafting. :)
Karen

What's going on at Creative Boutique?

Good morning!

It's a cold morning here in Oldmeldrum but at least it's not snowing today! All the baking for the cafe is almost done, just a few more scones to make and then into prep for tonight's class.

This is the first time we have had an evening class since we took a break for the festive period so I'm looking forward to seeing the ladies and getting back into the swing of things. I thought I might even get to join in but there are no spaces for me :( Fiona has made some beautiful pink girly cards for this months classes and of course a few butterflies make an appearance (you Aberdeenshire ladies just can't get enough if them!)

We have another few classes in the pipe line with another fab crafty lady. I am hoping to run some papercrafting classes that doesn't involve making cards. We also have some plans for some technique workshops. No dates in the diary for any demos. I think these are on the way out as they have been done time and time agin. What are your thoughts?

Gathering up the goodies

My trip to Germany gave me the opertunity to pick up a sample of the new charms from Trimcraft. Something  I wanted to include in the "love Leanne Ellis" box. Mixing up the papers embellishments along with Sugar Nellie rubber stamps, a box full of goodies to play with.
These charms were just shouting out for some delicate ribbon to finish them off.
Now the question is, just one or more in the box?

On the wings of love...

Time away

Please excuse my absence over the last few days, it's been a busy time in the house of sugar recently. I've recently returned from a trip to huge fair in Germany and, after a quick laundry turnaround, now I'm packing ready for a trip to another big show in Birmingham. I'm always on the lookout for exciting new products to bring you and this is giving me a great opportunity to start putting in to action some ideas I mentioned at the start of this year, so watch this space for further news!
